How do I import an unencrypted (BTC and BCH) private key into the Bitcoin.com wallet app on Android? I can't find any way to import or swipe a simple private key and would prefer to use the Bitcoin.com wallet instead of using Mycelium that has that functionality. Is lacking this feature intentional?
I'd prefer to use the Bitcoin.com wallet app for Android to import an unencrypted private key because I trust the Bitcoin.com wallet team more than I trust the Mycelium team. But it seems that I'd be forced to keep using the Mycelium app because it has a private key import function and the Bitcoin.com wallet app is missing such a function. Why does the Bitcoin.com lack this feature? Is it intentional for some reason? If not, when will it be added? I think this feature should be added as well as a feature to show any unencrypted private key so that a user can copy it with a simple pen and paper and then put the paper in a bank's safety deposit box for example. Mycelium can do both of those things so I see no good reason why the Bitcoin.com wallet app should intentionally lack those features. Please add the "import and export unencrypted single address private key" features to the Bitcoin.com wallet app so that I can stop using the Mycelium wallet and start using the Bitcoin.com wallet app instead. The primary reason that I trust the Mycelium team less nowadays is that they seem to be incompetent because it's been 674 days since 2017-08-01 and they still have not managed to implement support for sending and receiving BCH. I've started to trust the Bitcoin.com wallet the most nowadays because it's become old enough with no loss of funds stories that they appear to have been enough "time tested". I trust the Mycelium wallet the second most and would strongly prefer not to use any other apps or programs for my "import an unencrypted private key" problem. I trust the Bitcoin ABC client too of course but then there's the problem with trusting the desktop OS and all the unisolated programs that are installed by default etc. This was asked before but didn't get any replies: https://www.reddit.com/btc/comments/974ybj/confused_import_a_private_key_to_bitcoincom_wallet/
I am searching for an Android Bitcoin Cash Wallet that can import (or sweep) a private key (WIF) from a Bitcoin Core cold storage paper wallet.
SOLVED. The app "Coinomi" did the trick (not import, but sweep, which is ok for the low network fees...) (btw, also works for BTG) Any recommendations / tips? Actually "import" would be preferred over "sweep", but since Tx Fees are so low with BCH, also "sweep" is acceptable for my use-case. What I mean is entering (or sweeping) my own single private key* (legacy WIF format as we know it from paper wallets**), and NOT entering my own determinsistic 12-word-mnemonic seed. For the following Bitcoin Core wallets I am aware that they support it - but I am looking for a Bitcoin Cash Wallet that can do the same:
Mycelium (can scan private key QR code or enter from clipboard)
Bither (can scan private key QR code or enter it manually in text form)
The following Bitcoin Cash wallets cannot do it:
Coinomi correction: maybe Coinomi CAN sweep a priv key when using the QR icon form the "balance" page - I will try... update: it worked!
Bitcoin.com (probably not -. I am still in the process of generating it, it requires some network for some reason and stalls since more than 5 minutes on my powerful Samsung Galaxy) -> deinstalled again - it sucks.
Oh - and I'd like to enter the private key manually via text, not via QR code scan, if possible (because I only have the private key ("5.....") in text form and don't want to convert it to one of those QR code generator online websites, for obvious reasons).(removed, because bitaddress.org used offline serves this purpose to convert priv key (text) to QR code) PS: If anybody also knows about BTG for the same question, I'd be interested, too, obviously.
An android app that tries to guess a private key of lost bitcoins("zombie" addresses), also contains bitcoin treasure hunt. Looking for beta testers.
Hi, I have an app that is more or less complete and I am looking for people interested in testing it. The app generates random private keys and checks if they contain lost, or "zombie" bitcoins. The app considers bitcoins lost if nobody has sent or received anything from the address, where they reside, since year 2015. The app also contains a bitcoin riddle, which if you solve you receive a bitcoin address that contains bitcoins. If you would like to test this app, please message me and send me your email so I can add you to the list of testers.
Is there a way to get the private keys/seed from "Bitcoin Wallet" android app?
Question as stated in the title. Left btc in there for the fork like an idiot. Really would like to know if it's possible to get the seed from this app... I can backup the wallet... could I load it into another app potentially that can see the seed? Thanks!
I have been keeping my Bitcoin on my Android phone (Mycelium) since prior to the BCH fork. How can I transfer the pre-fork private keys to a newly purchased Nano S without losing out on the BCH and B2X forks?
Which Android Bitcoin Wallets Are Storing The Private Key (Or The HD Seed) At Google Servers?
It just came to my mind that when I buy a new Android smartphone and enter my google account data, the phone installs all the apps that I had installed on my previous phone... I am wondering: Does google also store app specific data on its servers? Does this include data from the app's data area on my phone? If so, do my private bitcoin keys gets stored on google servers (with little protection)?? In particularly I am thinking of Mycelium, Coinomi, Bither, Jaxx, Electrum, as the apps in question. Does anybody know what is these apps' and Google's "policy" on this?
